Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. It is the only holiday where gifts are not exchanged or kids are overdosing on sugar.
I am not here to argue the evolution of the holiday or its origins. For me and most Americans, Thanksgiving is about being thankful for what you have and taking time to be home with those you love.
And yes, it’s about the food. The glorious and amazing feast we are so thankful to share together!
Some may argue that the Thanksgiving meal is nothing special, but not me. I love the turkey and the stuffing and the cranberries and the squash and the mashed potatoes and the string beans!
And of course, don’t forget the best part of the Thanksgiving meal: the Thanksgiving desserts!
If you are a traditionalist, pumpkin pie takes the center stage for the Thanksgiving dessert table. Coming in a close second is the pecan pie. Many families like to serve other fruit pies like cherry, berry and apple.
I have collected the following Thanksgiving desserts, from traditional to non traditional, that would fit perfectly on your family table. With so many wonderful fall fruits like apples, pears, pomegranates and pumpkin, the choices are endless.
So this year, it’s okay to serve up the traditional Thanksgiving dessert. But why not add a little something nontraditional, too?
