Cooking outdoors has become a passion for me. What began as communal camping meals with my boys’ Cub Scout pack has evolved into full gourmet campfire meals with friends and family at the beach, park and yes, even while camping.
As far as I’m concerned, camping meals do not have to mean burgers and dogs.
This is what inspired me to write and photograph my newest cookbook, The Camp & Cabin Cookbook: 100 Recipes to Prepare Wherever You Go.
This cookbook makes a great gift for any outdoor enthusiast in your life. Grab one for a loved one or just for yourself!
This cookbook was definitely a labor of love! I share 100 recipes, from breakfast to mains, even drinks, all prepared over a campfire. I share multiple cooking techniques, including ash, grilling and Dutch oven cooking. There is something for everyone!
Campfire Recipes and Tips
When it comes time to head out on the trail with a tent in hand, or to hit the road for a rural weekend at the cabin or lake house, there’s no reason to compromise on great food.
It’s easy to whip up delicious meals with the recipes in this camping cookbook: in addition to supply lists and prep work that can be done ahead of time, the instructions include options for cooking both outdoors over a roaring fire or indoors near a cozy hearth.
Laura Bashar’s gorgeous photographs and inviting recipes make me eager to enjoy campfire cooking and put our charcoal grill to use. And while I’m planning my outdoor culinary expeditions, I’ll be cooking from this excellent book at home

This is not just a grilling cookbook. I include recipes that are made using multiple cooking techniques, like Dutch oven, ash, coal, foil, grill and even more!
The recipes in this book, as with the recipes on my blog, are influenced by the different textures, aromas and flavors from all over the world.
With 100 recipes to choose from, there is something for everybody to enjoy, no matter what the dietary constraint.
The Camp & Cabin Cookbook is a feast for the eyes, with gorgeous photographs for every dish, from breakfast to snacks to dinner, even drinks! You won’t want to leave home without it!
