In my previous post, I shared tips on how you can make your own cookbook. In this post I share my family’s Persian cookbook that I had created. Sponsored by CreateMyCookbook.com.
I am super excited about today’s post! A few weeks ago I wrote about the step-by-step process on how to make your own cookbook using CreateMyCookbook‘s free web-based software.
As I explained before, I was approached by CreateMyCookbook to use their website to design and make my own cookbook. I chose to work on my Persian recipes, compiling not only my personal recipes, but also some family recipes that were passed down from grandmother and aunt.
I ended up with a cookbook containing 88 recipes and and 170 pages! I even wrote up a little dedication page and a collage of old family photos. I wanted to include as much as I could and I’m thrilled with the final product.
A look inside
My cookbook has a high quality glossy hard cover with spiral binding, making it very easy to flip through and for it lay open flat. No worrying about the binding breaking or struggling to keep it open while I cook from it.
The cover is truly magnificient. My pictures both on the front and the back cover are bright and colorful. The spine is fabulous and blends in with the rest of the cookbook.
Yes, it brought tears to my eyes when I held it in my hands and saw this baby in print. Remember, I started this project ten years ago.
Inside, I used the Rite in the Rain® Paper, which is water and spill resistant. I am a very messy cook and I want this cookbook to stay pretty for as long as possible. I was so excited to flip through my book and see all the beautiful pictures and recipes come to life.
I am so happy with how my book turned out, that I’m going to order a couple more to give as gifts. So, Mom and Daii, you know what your gift is this Christmas!
This was such a fun project to work on. Although I have translated and cooked through most of my aunt’s handwritten cookbook, there are still about 20-30 recipes that need testing and photographing. I’m determined more than ever to finish it up.
And I can easily add the new finished recipes to the existing cookbook and print it up when I am finally done.
If you are thinking of creating a family cookbook filled with beloved recipes and photographs, you really should give CreateMyCookbook a try. Their website is easy to use and you can quickly create a lovely heirloom and unique gift.
Please check out CreateMyCookbook.com if you want to learn more about making your own cookbook. You’ll be able to see all the options and pricing and you can try out their services without committing to purchasing anything.
And as we say in farsi, Nooshe jan!
Disclosure: I did receive a stipend from CreateMyCookbook to make a cookbook using their website. The story I have written is all true, and the opinions are truly mine. If I didn’t like it, I wouldn’t blog about it.
This looks beautiful! Congrats. 🙂
