FamilySpice.com

This Dutch Oven Turkey is smothered in herb butter and will turn your outdoor Thanksgiving into a fragrant traditional feast. Cook on the campfire, grill or even indoors in a regular oven.

In a small bowl, combine butter, garlic and chopped sage until mixed completely

Season entire turkey with salt and pepper then rub it all over with herb butter.

To make your turkey fit in Dutch oven, you will need to cut along the backbone and crack the breastbone flat.

For a 12-inch Dutch oven,  light up 24 charcoal briquettes in a coal chimney.

Place 9 hot coals under the Dutch oven. Cover and evenly place remaining 15 hot coals on the lid then cook for about 90 minutes.
