Alas, summer vacation is coming to an end. School supplies have been purchased, new clothes and shoes are in the closet waiting for next Thursday and the start of school. Luckily, in Southern California, the summer weather is still here to stay for another month or two. And that means barbeque season is still going strong, and so are the mixed drinks! My house has an endless supply of watermelon in the refrigerator, and of course, my kids gobble it up pretty quickly. But, Mommy and Daddy need something… “extra” to refresh them: Thus, we have the watermelon margarita!

I realize that my drink recipes are a little limited. Not that you can tell by the size of my hubby’s liquor collection. Mixing new drinks and trying new concoctions is a personal hobby of ours, so I was happy to make my man and I a frozen watermelon margarita. Very easy to put together. Just freeze up some 1-inch watermelon chunks and combine it in a blender with tequila, Triple Sec and lime juice. Serve immediately.

I made a pitcher for the girls on the block and they were quickly enjoyed. My husband drank his, but proclaimed it to be a “chick drink.” He prefers his recipe for classic margaritas!!

Serving Suggestions: Serve the margaritas with or without salt on the rim. If you have a sweet tooth, try sugar on the rim of the glass. How do they get it to stick to the rim of your glass? Have a small plate of salt handy and wet the rim down with a wet towel or a 1/4 of a lime. Dip the rim into the salt or sugar.
