Here’s a fabulous collection of unique and fun gift ideas for that special outdoor cook or camper in your life — just in time for the holiday season!
And just like that, Thanksgiving is over and the hustle and bustle of Christmas and Hanukkah is upon us. I don’t know why it seems to sneak up on me year after year. I do have 365 days to prepare for the holidays every year.
But, like most people, I get sucked into the day-to-day craziness that my family provides me. From birthdays to vacations and of course homework and extra-curricular activities. So here I am again, watching December coming at me like a freight train and I have accomplished nothing on my gift giving list.
Last year, I put together a great gift guide for the outdoor foodie in your life. It was tremendous fun to virtually shop for all the things that I would want to get (or do have) for the holidays. So this year, consider this PART TWO to the holiday gift guide for the outdoor cook in your life.
The Camp & Cabin Cookbook
What?! This made the list again?! Ok, I confess to a little unabashed self promotion here. But seriously, if you haven’t picked up my beautiful cookbook, why the hell not?! It’s filled with 100 recipes and every single one of them is prepared over fire.
And for those days you aren’t outside? I have the instructions to make these delicious recipes at your home kitchen, too. Got my book, but need more outdoor cookbook ideas? Here are a few good ones to pick up for the camper, grill master or the adventurist in your life:
Leather Grilling Apron
I admit that I do not really use an apron when I’m cooking indoors or outdoors. But this leather grilling apron is pretty cool looking, so I definitely wouldn’t mind sporting this while grilling. And I think men would definitely wear this because, hello? It’s leather!
It not only looks awesome, but the leather also protects you from flare ups and any spattering of hot grease. So it’s beautiful and functional. Get it here on Amazon!
Swivel Grill
For the avid camper, this is fabulous gift. Most campsites offer you a campfire ring and sometimes a small grill rack. But if you really love to cook over fire, you need more cooking surface. This swivel grill gets shoved into the campfire dirt and offers you three surfaces to cook on: griddle, grill and smoke box.
You can cook lots of food from my cookbook on this bad boy – oops! Unabashed self promoting again. My husband has been eying this grill. It would definitely get used. Check it out here!
Propane Tank Scale
How many times did your propane tank leave you high and dry? It said it was half full, but it wasn’t? Busted gauges can cramp a camp out. This handy propane tank scale can easily tell you in a very low-tech way, how much juice is left in the tank simply by weighing it. Find it here on Amazon.
Blooming Onion Grill Rack
I’m a sucker for grilled onions. And the thought of enjoying a grilled blooming onion gets my blood pumping! This gadget comes with a slicing guide to help you cut your onion perfectly, as well as a stainless steel grilling rack. I’m thinking some of my artichoke dipping sauces from my cookbook would pair beautifully with this treat. (there I go again!) Order yours here.
Bear Proof Cooler
If you camp in bear country, most campsites have bear lockers on site for you to lock everything up at night. But this 40-quart cooler is bear resistant, no bear locker needed. Another plus is that this sturdy cooler keeps your food and drinks ice cold for days. I know I’m in serious need for this bad boy as we have camped in super hot weather. Check it out here.
Poultry Shears
When your grilling outside, sometimes you don’t have the time or inclination to cut things with a knife and fork. These heavy duty poultry shears are perfect for prep work, like spatchcocking a chicken or turkey. Or you can use them to cut up ribs right off the grill, for easy serving. Super simple, folks! Get it here on Amazon.
Spikeball
Are your kids crazy about Spikeball like mine are? Here’s a fun and active game you can play while you wait for your food to cook. It can be played on dirt, grass, sand, anywhere! It’s kinda like a cross between volleyball, basketball and football. Intrigued? Check it out here!
The Funny T-Shirt
So my 17-year old son’s wardrobe is mainly filled with funny t-shirts. His snarky and silly sense of humor is what inspires me to always include a funny t-shirt in these gift round ups. Because cooking outdoors really is about unwinding and having a little fun! The reindeer cut of meats is one of his favorite holiday tees! Always cracks a smile!
Well, there you have it. Get a jump start on your holiday shopping, right here. And don’t forget to check out last year’s list. It still has a lot of fabulous ideas that any outdoor cook would love and appreciate!

LOVE that propane tank scale! I need one. For reasons you can guess. 🙂
I know, RIGHT?!! My husband gauges it by weight with his spidey senses, but I think I need to just buy him this, as a backup!! LOL!
