Pomegranate Shrub

Fresh pomegranate juice combined with tart apple cider vinegar makes this shrub a ruby-red delight. Recipe by Laura Bashar of Family Spice

Ingredients:

Instructions:

  1. In a small pot over medium heat stir until sugar is dissolved:
    • 2 cup pomegranate juice
    • 1 cup cider vinegar
    • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  2. Remove mixture from heat and let cool to room temperature.
  3. Transfer to a bottle or jar and seal shut. Refrigerate until ready to use.
  4. Shrubs have a long shelf life due to the acidity in the vinegar and can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 1 year.

Serving Suggestions: Sweet and sour shrubs can be mixed in water, club soda or seltzer water for a non-alcoholic carbonated treat. They are also great mixed in with vodka, gin, rum or tequila for a unique cocktail.
