Am I the only one who is scared to look at the family calendar? Since school started, I have been frantically entering in the 10 assorted activities my 3 kids are involved in this year.

It is one scary looking calendar. Most weekends are triple booked. I am definitely more frazzled this year than last. It is going to be a challenging school year, for sure.

So, I am getting creative with the menu planning at home. I am keeping the menu simple, using the crock pot more and making enough to have leftovers.

Why this recipe is so awesome

Back-to-school means it is fall, but here in San Diego that means hot weather and not cool. So this time of year we make a lot of smoothies.

I make a variety of smoothies from almost any fruit. But I wanted to celebrate fall and bring in a touch of cooler weather to our drink. So I used apples.

Apples in a smoothie? Heck, yeah!

Sure you have your go-to fruit choices in smoothies, like strawberries, mangos and bananas. Yes, you can add apple to any of these kinds of smoothies. But today’s recipe is specifically about APPLES.

And raisins!

Hello, you can sweeten your smoothie with raisins – even dates! They are naturally sweet, rich in fiber and packed with energy for your family. And don’t worry. They won’t know this baby is good for them!

You’ll love how simple this recipe is, you only need 5 ingredients! And your kids will love how this smoothie tastes. And your body is going to love the energy it will get.

Expert tips and recipe FAQs

Smoothies are best when made fresh, but leftovers can be kept in an air tight container in the refrigerator for 12 to 24 hours. You can also freeze leftovers to make smoothie popsicles!
