Summer sweet blueberries add just the right sweetness in this Blueberry Mojito, with lime, mint and rum.
My husband is always trying to get to me try more cocktails and drinks. He personally loves mixing drinks and we often experiment with fruits and infusing alcohol.
But most of these concoctions are enjoyed by the hubby and friends and not me. So today I am sharing a drink that I personally enjoy, this blueberry mojito.
Why this recipe is so awesome
I am a total light weight when it comes to alcohol. I don’t drink often and when I do, I prefer these kinds of fruity drinks. No wine or beer for me.
One of my preferred drinks on Laura’s cocktail list, is the mojito. I love the refreshing flavor of the rum, lime and mint combination. And one thing I really love to do is make new kinds of mojitos with different kinds of fruits.
This blueberry mojito is one of those fusion drinks. Fresh blueberries are muddled with lime, mint and sugar and then mixed in with rum. Blueberries and rum go so well together!
All you need with this cocktail is the sun shining down on you as you sit by the cool. Time to wash your troubles away….
Ingredients you need
- Blueberries: I used fresh blueberries but you can also use frozen blueberries. Just be sure to thaw them first. Note that the flavor will be slightly different.
- Lime: Lime is used in the classic mojito and I love the tang of lime in this drink.
- Sprigs of mint: Fresh mint is a must when making mojito.
- Sugar: You can add as much or as little granulated sugar as you want in this drink. It just depends on how sweet you like it.
- White rum: White rum is traditionally used in mojitos, but you could use spiced rum if you prefer it.
- Club soda: I am not a heavy drinker, so I like to add some club soda to the mix. You can omit it if you prefer.
Step-by-step directions
1. In a cocktail shaker muddle together blueberries, lime, mint and sugar.
2. Add rum and shake well.
3. Divide evenly into two glasses filled with ice. Top glasses with club soda (2 oz each glass) and serve immediately.

Recipe tips and FAQs
A mojito is made by muddling together fruit, sugar and mint in a cocktail shaker. To muddle means to crush together. This can be done with a muddling tool or the end of a rolling pin or wooden spoon.
The idea is to crush the mint with the abrasive grains of sugar to release its oils and flavor into the fruit. Once muddled, rum is added, the cocktail is shaken together and poured over ice. Salut!
Typically white rum is used in making mojitos. Depending on the flavor profile you are looking for you, can also use a combination of rums like spiced rum or Malibu rum.
