How do you shop for gifts? Are you a mall shopper? An online shopper? Do you prefer boutiques to national chains? Maybe you are a crafter, an artist or a builder? Me? I prefer homemade gifts, to give out and to receive. But not everyone has a sweet tooth or wants a box of cookies or chocolates. So, what do you do?

My husband likes to release his inner bartender when we have guests come over. And when we hosted our giant pomegranate themed dinner party, we served up pomegranate martinis with our homemade pomegranate vodka. The pomegranate vodka was such a big hit, we decided to gift bottles for the holidays.

Why you must try this recipe

When it comes to the holidays, I love giving homemade gifts. My friends enjoy them and I love making them. I used to make a bunch of sweets, like cookies and fudge, to give as gifts.

One year, we decided to mix things up and made some infused pomegranate vodka and gave small bottles as gifts. Boy, was that a hit! And ever since then, our friends expressed how much they prefer the boozy gifts to the sweet.

Ever since then, we have been giving homemade boozy gifts to friends and family. From pomegranate tequila to pomegranate rum and so many other fun liqueurs since, infused vodka (or whatever alcohol you like) is super easy to make.

It doesn’t get more simple than this:

Step-by-step direction

Vodka infusions are crazy easy to make. You get some fruit and soak it in vodka for several weeks. Strain out the fruit and you’re done! This is the basic technique I used for my strawberry vodka, for example.

So we soaked pomegranate arils in vodka for two weeks, then filtered out the fruit. Super easy. Fruity flavor. Seriously gorgeous color. Infused vodka does not have sugar included in it. Limoncello has sugar added to it and it makes a wonderful liqueur.

But a simple fruit infused vodka, no sugar. Just fruit and alcohol. You can also do this with plums, lemons, oranges and many other types of fruit. If you like to spice it up, add some cloves or cinnamon sticks.

Recipe tips and FAQs

And speaking of gifts, I made these tags that I tied with colorful red and white twine on my bottles of pomegranate vodka. The labels I made were inspired by Matt Armendariz of Matt Bites. He used pre-cut Avery labels. I printed my tags onto card stock and cut them into tag shapes.

It all depends on how crafty you are feeling! But for your convenience, I have these free pomegranate infused vodka labels for you to print out and cut at home.

If you want more pomegranate delciousness, I have more wonderful pomegranate cocktails you try like my pomegranate gin sling. I also have a slew of pomegranate mocktails and a pomegranate shrub, too! If you haven’t noticed, my family and I love all things pomegranate so do check out all of my pomegranate recipes, savory AND sweet!

Does infused vodka need to be refrigerated?

While the pomegranate arils are sitting in the vodka during the 2 week infusing process, you do not need to refrigerate your bottle. The alcohol content in the vodka will prevent any bacteria from forming initially. If you keep the fruit in the vodka after two weeks, you DO need refrigerate your infused vodka.

Once the fruit is strained out of the vodka, you can store your pomegranate infused vodka on the counter or in your personal home bar. It does NOT need to refrigerate it.
