Kids love sweet stuff. It’s no surprise. I know I am not alone when it comes to saying no to the kiddos about sugary drinks. It’s a losing battle where I am typically the bonafide mean mom. But, I make it up to them periodically when I bring home Green Machine, pomegranate juice or orange juice. But I still wear my mean mom title proudly.
I don’t juice much, besides the typical freshly squeezed oj and our beloved pomegranate juice. I leave the juicing to my husband, as he loves his the mechanical aspect of the auger juice machine in our house.
What I love about Jessica’s book are the varieties of juice recipes she has developed. From using sweet potatoes, zucchini and ginger, Jesssica has all fruit juices to veggie-fruit juices featured in her book. You will definitely find a healthy, low sugar juice recipe that both you and your child will like.
My kids love Naked Juice’s Green Machine blend. But I always wondered if I could replicate something like it at home. I made Jessica’s Winter Rainbow Juice which includes apples, carrots and rainbow chard. My juicer required some extra chopping for the carrots and apples so I could juice them, but it was well worth the work.
All 3 kids loved it.
And being the frugal, innovative mom that Jessica is, she even included recipes to use that leftover fruit pulp so NOTHING gets wasted. The kids have gone through the book and selected every blend they want to try, including Jessica’s recipes to replace those expensive sports drinks. What a great way to use up the produce I always stock up on during the summer months!
I loved this cookbook so much, I decided to give one away to one lucky winner!
